Our analysis revealed that leveraging the best practices in integrative design cases in new construction and retrofits for both commercial and residential buildings can generate savings that range from 42% to 87% below business-as-usual energy demand.
Only the low-case and high-case averages, not the best or worst values in the entire sample of case studies were used in the Reinventing Fire vision for the buildings sector. The low case is based on the average of the percent savings for the bottom 50% of case studies for each sector. The high case is based on the average of the percent savings for the top 50%. The maximum values, which are the highest values from the case studies, show that even greater savings are possible for bold service providers and building owners.
