Background
Prior to joining RMI, Tolga worked for Center for Sustainability (CfS) at Penn State University as a research assistant. In CfS, he designed and developed green and affordable transition homes for American Indian tribes in Lame Deer, MT. His recent research on deep energy retrofits will contribute to the research efforts of the Greater Philadelphia Innovation Cluster (GPIC) for Energy-Efficient Buildings in Philadelphia, a U.S. DOE Energy Innovation Hub led by Penn State University.
In 2010, Tolga interned with James G. Davis Construction Corporation in MD and assisted with LEED documentation, initiating GHG reduction plan, BIM Modeling and various project management tasks. From 2004-2008, Tolga worked for various engineering firms and institutions including ARUP (in Milan, Italy and Istanbul, Turkey) and University of Zagreb (Zagreb, Croatia) where he served in different roles such as project engineer, design engineer and project coordinator. Since 2005, Tolga have been also actively involved with various non-profit organizations such as New Leaf Initiative, BEST (Board of European Students of Technology), AEGEE (European Students Forum) and IAESTE (The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) to promote sustainability education and interdisciplinary cooperation internationally.
