Biography

Mark is a Resident Advisor to Redstone Strategy Group and its clients on growth strategies, organizational design, and effectiveness, with particular focus on Climate Response and Sustainability. Mark is also the Founder and Managing Director of Highland Ventures Group, LLC, a firm dedicated to providing capitol and business development advisory support to early stage start-ups and high potential growth enterprises in the Climate Response and Sustainability space.

Background

Mark is a Director Emeritus of McKinsey and Company, where he spent three decades advising for-profit and not-for-profit organizations on business development, growth strategies, and organizational design. Mark has led more then 100 individual growth initiatives and helped launch more than thirty new business, product, and service development offerings spanning a range of industries (e.g. energy, banking, pulp & paper, consumer goods, retailing, food service, dot.com, social sector, and professional services).

At McKinsey, he led the development of geographic practices in the US, and subsequently, across Africa and the Middle East. He also initiated and led development of the McKinsey Marketing and Branding practice in the Americas, and separately, McKinsey’s Global Organizational Insights practice that included diagnostic tools and methods to improve the on-going success and sustainability of an enterprise.

Mark began his career at The Procter & Gamble Company in Brand Management, where he recognized and developed his passion and experience for new business and product growth across multiple categories and business areas. He lives in Boulder and enjoys hiking, running, road and mountain biking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Mark and his wife, Melanie, have four children including two AIDS orphans they adopted while living in South Africa.
