Seattle is uniquely positioned for significant benefits in transitioning to electric vehicles. With hydro-power accounting for 66% of Washington’s electricity production, electric vehicles can help dramatically reduce emissions of pollutants such as greenhouse gases. Electric vehicles represent a significant opportunity for Seattle and the State of Washington to reduce reliance on oil and mitigate the impacts of emissions.
To encourage the transition to electric vehicles, the Washington State Legislature passed House Bill 1481, which seeks to expedite the establishment of cost-effective recharging infrastructure.
Seattle will work with other Project Get Ready cities nationwide to share information and lessons learned around electric vehicle readiness.
