Cooling The Warming

At RMI, we are focused on helping design and construct high-performance buildings that use less fossil-fuel-based energy and minimize waste production and water consumption.

Cooling the warming sets an economically viable, accelerated path for changing the current paradigm that governs the built environment while radically reducing not only greenhouse gasses but also atmospheric pollution that result from the burning of coal and natural gas to power our buildings.

High Performance Building Series

Rocky Mountain Institute and the U.S. Green Building Council have partnered to produce a compelling film series that promotes cost-effective, high-performance building design and construction. Our latest in the series, "High Performance by Integrative Design," provides an in-depth look at how the integrative design process happens.

Watch now to see examples of design teams collaborating in new ways to integrate high-performance design elements, such as daylighting, energy efficiency and renewable energy, for optimal performance.

Perspective and Practice

RMI’s first film, "High Performance Building: Perspective and Practice," makes the business case for building green. The film features interviews with CEOs, business executives, developers, school administrators, government officials, building managers and design professionals who recognize the benefits of green design. Watch now:

A New Paradigm

Cooling the warming is all about designing and constructing high-performance buildings that use less fossil-fuel-based energy and minimize waste production and water consumption.

The program includes components aimed at creating more awareness and disseminating new practice knowledge regarding high-performance buildings.

The time for cooling the warming is now. Our investment in cooling the warming now can and will alter the future, so that the built environment in 20 years is dramatically different from the built environment today.
