RESPONSIBILITIES
The Information Services Intern will be involved in developing, maintaining and fulfilling online document and multimedia asset management systems. Because the systems are still in development, the internship will require some innovative systems planning. There will also be considerable time needed to transferring assets into the system and properly archive them for future retrieval. This work will involve categorizing documents, adding appropriate metadata and assigning access restrictions.
The Information Services Intern will work under Communications Department direction, but you will also be expected to work with the other diverse research and consulting teams at RMI. A strong ability for time management and project prioritization will be essential.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideally you will have a bachelors or masters degree in Library and Information Sciences or significant experience working in information services, knowledge management or a related area. Almost all of the documents and images you will be working with will be of a scientific or highly technical nature, so you will need to be comfortable digging into that kind of information. A passionate interest in issues of sustainability, energy efficiency, and business environmental solutions will be very helpful.
Software skills in the following are highly recommended
- SQL Databases
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Basic Adobe Photoshop
- Basic Web Interface design via applications like Dreamweaver or Frontpage
This is a six-month, 40 hour/week, full-time position. Housing is provided. On successful completion of the 6-month internship, there may be an opportunity for a permanent Knowledge Officer position.
