Selena Wang-Thomas

Selena is a Manager for Rocky Mountain Institute’s Electricity practice. Selena is part of the SEED (Sustainable Energy for Economic Development) program, which works to accelerate affordable, reliable, and clean energy access in Sub-Saharan Africa by working closely with governments to develop robust and integrated national electrification strategies spanning on grid and off grid solutions. She is currently focused on our work in Uganda, supporting the government of Uganda to develop and implement an integrated electrification strategy to drive energy access and economic growth.


Before joining RMI, Selena was an Associate at McKinsey & Company in London. She worked across multiple industries and sectors, including public sector, basic materials, responsible business, and carbon capture and utilization. She has previously worked at the International Institute for Environment and Development in London, focusing on the Institute’s China-related work, at the Global Environmental Institute in Beijing, focusing on the social and environmental impact of Chinese investment overseas, and at Primavera Capital, a leading Chinese private equity firm in Beijing.
